Porsche Carrera Cup Germany, Sachsenring

Tricky weekend in Sachsenring, very very challenging track to master with such little driving time but I am very happy about the end results, P7 and P6 in the two races to score solid points! Free practice was a bit of a shock, as the track is really quick and flowing, small mistake and you are in trouble. Moreover it is also really technical so it took me a few laps to get into the rhythm, P8 in FP was good enough but still room to improve. The new trend in the second half of the season seems to be bad qualy, lot’s of pace in the sector times but not one good lap put together, also due to the fact that the tires drop off was significant and very quick, with only really 2 laps per set to get the time in, which equated to probably the worst qualy of the season, P10 and P12 for the two races, only 0,5 off P4, this is how close it is in Carrera Cup Deutschland! Sachsenring is a notoriously very difficult track to overtake but somehow I managed a pretty decent job in both races. Decent start in the first race and really strong pace, I climbed the rank and was sitting P7 in a single group of cars fighting for P3 before making a mistake and damaging the front right really badly, with lot’s of vibration it became clear that I just had to bring it to the end and so I did, losing over 1 second a lap for the last 5 laps due to the slow puncture. Shame because I could fight for it but whatever, P7 from P10 was pretty good! Race 2 and another really good start from P12, started attacking from the beginning and managed to climb few places and finish in P6 by the end of it! I am very happy of my progress in the races, in the first half of the season, especially in Norisring I was really too defensive and my competitors took advantage of that. A change in race strategy really paid dividends both here and Nürburgring, finally making good progress recovering positions! Now I just have to combine a good qualifying and we should be almost there! I guess this is the whole point of the first season! Hockenheim next! Get all the pictures from the weekend HERE
