Porsche Carrera Cup Germany, Nürburgring

After a long break was good to be back behind the wheel of the #4 RN Vision, EAE, Black Falcon Porsche GT3 Cup for the ninth and tenth rounds of Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland. Typical Eifel weather welcomed us so Friday free practice was run on fully wet conditions. First time for me in the wet with no ABS but we had some very good pace and I closed the session in P7 just behind Christian with almost the same lap time. Saturday’s qualifying were run on a wet but drying lap, so track position and getting the last flying lap of the session was crucial for good result. Unfortunately some traffic right at the end sort of compromised my results, I managed a pretty decent lap but on my last, even quicker flyer I had traffic and then the session was over, P11 for race 1 and P8 for race 2 by the end of it, not too bad but could have been P6 and P8. The weather once again turned nasty for the first race later on Saturday and the goal was just to cover mileage and get accustomed to the conditions without risking too much. I had a good start and climbed to P8 but a mistake later in the race costed me all the positions gained and eventually I would finish P11, but I was happy about my pace in the wet. Second race was dry conditions and good weather, I had a very good start and by the first corner I was inside Ammermuller fighting for P6 when he just turned in on me leaving no space, we had a small contact, nothing major, but lost again few places so I was forced to fight back during the race. Recovered again the places I lost up to P7 but by then the top 6 guys had gained already 5 seconds and it would stay like this until the end. Overall a good weekend, finally feeling good enough to fight in close quarters with the other guys and not being so defensive in the races like early season, looking forward to next week in Sachsenring, new track to me so big challenge ahead!
